six sigma (dmaic)
You may not necessarily mass produce anything, but you may sell to and service mass production companies, which inevitably leaves you in the quandary of living in the mass production world by default. Your products usually must integrate into a production line, thereby making their own contribution to variability in your customers' products. DFSS will allow you to proactively fine tune your designs to operate within your customers' environments, producing the product quality your customers expect.
dfss implementation
If you have no DFSS program in place we can either help you implement a program or perform the DFSS tasks for you (or some combination thereof). This allows for modularity of effort, concentrating on the issues you desire to address. Some of the implementation services we offer include:
- all the above (within the DMAIC section at the top of the page) PLUS
- quality function deployment: see
![]()
- critical parameter management: see
![]()
- design for cost, assembly, manufacture, service
- robust engineering methods
- statistically enabled reliability methods
- highly accelerated life testing (HALT)
- accelerated life testing (ALT)
program guidance
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) requires rigor, even more so than traditional Six Sigma (DMAIC). If you already have a DFSS program in place, we can assist in assuring the proper tasks are assigned and completed along with the statistical verification needed at each juncture in your design process. We therefore serve as motivators and data verifiers to your important design efforts. When warranted we can even act as interim project managers to assure your project is completed and the execution is correct.
training
Training is not the main focus of
Genesis, except for our very popular
. There are
many
companies that provide this training (Genesis among them), making this a
difficult segment within which to differentiate an offering. However,
companies do turn to us for their training needs, often
in conjunction with
actual problem solving, thereby passing by theory and digging right into the
trenches. To avoid some of the pitfalls of creating a Six Sigma "program,"
