problem solving

This is the main focus of our involvement with mass production companies. We are most often called in to identify the root causes of process problems and recommend solutions toward their elimination. We specialize in exposing "process ghosts," the myriad of statistical interactions that reside in your processes, and the debilitating statistical noise that prevents your processes from running under less-than-ideal circumstances. This part of our services often makes extensive use of design of experiments. It is not unusual to have personnel from the client company follow our moves in an effort to learn some of these techniques in an "on-the-job" experience.

data mining

Done properly, data effective mining takes time and occasionally knowledge of mathematics beyond just Statistics. We serve your data analysis needs by affording you a resource to circumvent your time constraints, acting to "double-check" your calculations, and resolving quality issues with your customers or suppliers as a third party, unbiased resource. We exhibit a propensity to focus on the proverbial "forest," where your current data may be pointing only at the proverbial "trees."

capability studies

Would you like an outside view of your statistical capability? We can provide a third-party, unbiased view of the capability of your processes, allowing you to subsequently express this capability to your customers. Additionally, we will quantify the statistical capability of your suppliers, allowing you yet another unbiased view of what you are actually purchasing. Capability may be couched in several terms, including sigma level, dpmo (defects per million opportunities), or Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk.

measurement systems analysis (msa)

This is not simply calibration. MSA focuses in upon the system of measurement: the gauge, operators, standard operating procedure, and environment. If any part of your process is such that only a certain individual is trusted to measure it, you have a measurement system problem. MSA is where most problem-solving efforts begin and where the most surprises occur. Very often, measurement systems that are assumed to be acceptable can easily be shown to be incapable for the task at hand; even "off-the-shelf" solutions. Do not take our word for it: have us come in and perform MSA on one of your systems.

training

Training is not the main focus of Genesis, except for our very popular executive program. There are many companies that provide this training (Genesis among them), making this a difficult segment within which to differentiate an offering. However, companies do turn to us for their training needs, often in conjunction with actual problem solving, thereby passing by theory and digging right into the trenches.
